Right now we need a Cost Analyst located in San Antonio, Texas. Reporting to the Director of Operations Finance, this position is responsible for providing analytical support to various teams within the organization. This role will establish and maintain accurate product costs and perform cost accounting duties. This position will also analyze variances and assist in the process of updating standards as part of this variance analysis. This position will partner with Accounting, Finance, Customer Service, Brand Teams, Procurement, brewing, inventory control, and master data.
What You'll Do:
Develop new product cost estimates (Cost of Manufacturing) to support the Pabst innovation pipeline. 3 analyses done at each of the below stages:
Feasibility - Develop initial estimates (+/- 30%) using beer BOM, packaging materials estimates and Partner brewer estimates. This initial analysis is typically done with little input from other departments, using the similar products as a basis for cost assumptions.
Development - Refine estimates (+/- 20%) with input from other departments. Work with Procurement to obtain initial quotes for raw and packaging materials. Work with supply chain to obtain initial quotes for contract brewer pricing. (+/- 20%)
Implementation - Additional refinement of estimates based on input from other departments. Forecast and artwork should be finalized, allowing for actual quotes to be obtained for raw and packaging materials (Procurement). All test brews should be complete, and should begin to receive actual costs that contract brewers will charge for materials they provide for a given SKU. (+/- 10%)
Annual Budgeting Process – Develop product cost estimates (Cost of Manufacturing) for all products:
Produced Products - Take annual forecast, breakdown into BOM components, and prepare file for procurement to obtain quotes. Work with contract brewers to obtain updated annual pricing for production fees, and materials they provide. Roll up all costs in Excel files, and ERP system.
Purchased Products - Analyze, translate, and analyze standard variable costs provided by Partner for all purchased products.
Systems Maintenance - Finished good SKU-Plant Costs – Ensure Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP system is updated with accurate products costs. Provide add/change requests to master data team for systems updates.
Systems Maintenance - Finished goods trade agreements - For purchased finished goods only. Ensure Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP system is updated so accurate costs are brought into PO's. Provide add/change requests to master data team for systems updates.
Budget vs Actual Production Cost Report – Track budget vs actual costs for all produced products by bill of material component in Microsoft Dynamics AX. This includes setting up, and maintain test costing versions needed to generate report.
Standard Variable Cost Variance Report – Review and analyze daily variance report for purchased products. Work with contract brewers to resolve discrepancies where invoiced cost does not match agreed upon pricing.
Support ad-hoc requests for product cost analysis.
Partner with master data and accounting to determine best practices when setting up cost structure for new products.
Support the business from an operations finance standpoint in the development and implementation of systems projects.
Partner with business owners to ensure invoices are correctly coded by brand /family.
Support Customer Service with the monthly reconciliation process of transportation diversion cost and finished good loss related to MC.
Partner with Customer Service to develop and implement a reconciliation process for transportation diversion cost related to Irwindale.
Assist Marketing/Sales with cost avoidance related to MC Inventory Obsolescence.
Support Customer Service with streamlining the Claims Reconciliation process.
Help Brand Teams understand the cost risk associated with packaging material utilization.
Support month end closing activities and analyze monthly financial results.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting from an accredited college or university.
Product costing/cost accounting background is a plus.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in related industry or Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Understand business challenges and ability to apply critical thinking and problem solving skills to develop a proactive solution.
Provides excellent customer service with both internal and external customers.
Excellent interpersonal skills required to successfully interact with non-technical & technical business partners.
Strong communication skills to facilitate working with the business community to implement solutions based on requirements and prioritization.
Proven continuous learning capacity to broaden and deepen technical and business skills.
Accomplished using excel, word, power point, outlook email, and have a strong ERP system knowledge.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX, and IBM Cognos TM1 is a plus.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents.
Partners with business owners to understand the underlying business processes to insure that appropriate internal controls are in place and that the business activity is recorded in accordance with GAAP.
